I hope everyone had a great holiday.
I am known for being fairly curmudgeonly about holidays… its a reputation that is well earned.
But I do look forward to Christmas day, and spending the day with my family; giving gifts, catching up, having some fun and… taking full advantage of my mother’s cooking.
And yesterday I took full advantage of her culinary skills.
“So what?” you might ask.
Well I generally stay pretty disciplined in most things, especially what I eat since it impacts so much else in your life.
But yesterday I indulged heavily so today…
…I bounced back.
I didn’t over correct and do some sort of purge or extended fast etc… I just went back to the usual healthy diet I stick too.
As I was thinking about that it occurs to me that this is a super important skill in business as well.
The truth is more often than not things aren’t going to go right, or the way you planned them. Its just law of averages.
What will end up separating the winners from the loser is how often they are able to bounce back from these setbacks and keep charging forward.
Had a Google algorithm change tank your rankings? Figure out what you need to do. Bounce Back.
Ran some ads and didn’t get a single opt in? Now you know what doesn’t work. Adjust. Bounce Back.
Had a key employee call in sick on a busy day, or quit? Do it yourself or get someone else to help. Bounce Back.
No matter what your business, or your life throws at you, there is nothing you can’t handle, you just have to look at the situation, figure out the way forward, bounce back from the setback, and get right back on track.
Have you ever had to bounce back from a setback? Did you come out of it better than you went in?
Let me know in the Facebook group.
Talk to you tomorrow.
